Course objective Acquiring basic knowledge in field of engine resource management. Gaining skills in machinery and systems control, teamwork and leadership.
Course content
Course is developed in accordance with recommendations of IMO Model courses 2.07 "Engine Room Simulator" and 7.04 “Officer in charge of an Engineering Watch” and includes:
- Preparation specifics of main engine, diesel-generators (electrical power plant), service machinery, boiler plant and auxiliary systems using computer
- Ship power plant startup
- Boiler plant preparation and startup
- Ship preparation for the passage (fuel and lubricating oil bunkering)
- Fuel and lubricating oil purification
- Manoeuvring and main engine nominal load operation
- Main engine operation diagnostics
- Troubleshooting methods
- Executed works documenting
- Propulsion plant safe operation in difficult and emergency situations
- Engine room resource management
Entry requirements All course participants must have marine engineering education and practical shipboard experience
