Course objective   Acquiring basic skills on use of AIS equipment and its joint operation with other radio navigation equipment for providing navigation safety

• Chapter 5 "Navigational safety" of the Convention for the Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS), adopted by IMO resolution MSC.99 (73) from December 5, 2000"
• Purpose, operating principle and scope
• Development and international standardization
• Informational and technical features of AIS
• Use basis and application experience
• Use of AIS in shore services
• Ship’s AIS apparatus
• AIS operation with telecommunication equipment
• AIS operation on different information levels
• Practical exercises with ship’s AIS station of MT-1 type by MCMURDO, TRANSAS

Entry requirements  All participants must be not younger than 18 and have marine education
