Course objective Effective use of GMDSS equipment, execution of radiocommunication in case distress
Course content
Program is developed in accordance with recommendations of IMO Model Course 1.25 “General Operator's Certificate for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System”, including:
- Procedures regulated by Convention SOLAS-74, log book
- Theory of radio
- Knowledge of marine GMDSS system features
- Practical exercises in use of ship’s UHF and DSC stations equipment
- Practical operation of the GMDSS system and subsystems: GMDSS, NAVTEX, EPIRB, UHF, DSC and VHF transceiver. Communication procedures in case of distress, urgency, safety and search and rescue operations
- Equipment testing procedures
- Battery charging and technical maintenance
- Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in common communication procedures
Entry requirements All participants must be not younger than 18 and have marine education
