Course objective                  Acquiring knowledge, understanding and proficiency necessary for performing duties and carrying the responsibility on cargo operations on ships carrying dangerous and hazardous substances in solid form in bulk and in packaged form according to guidances В-V/b and В-V/c of STCW Code.

  • Cargo characteristics and specifics
  • Substances with dangerous chemical properties classification
  • Health hazards
  • Conventions, regulations and recommendations
  • Familiarization with application of International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) – Code
  • Marking, danger signs and packing of cargo units
  • Dangerous cargo/substances documentation
  • Acquired knowledge practical application
  • Danger categories and compatibility groups, packing, reliability, tanks, closing devices, toxic and self-igniting substances of classes 1, 2, 3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 6.2, 7, 8, 9
  • Precautions methods and actions in case of emergency
  • Medical first aid
